Remembering 9/11

Remember the days, weeks and months after 9/11? The only good that came from that day is that we, as a country, seemed to unite as one. We weren’t black or white or any shade in between. We didn’t seem to hate each other. Every house hung a flag with pride. I remember driving and looking around at all the patriotism and feeling proud that I was American. People worked together to get through such a tragic event. No one looked at the color of someone’s skin and said statistically how many blacks, whites, Asians, Hispanics, etc. died that day .. it was people .. thousands of PEOPLE. The loss of human life. No one cared what God they did or didn’t worship. Police, fire, our military and our first responders were ALL heroes. I am truly saddened by how those professions are treated and disrespected today, only 15 short years later. I remember the pride we had in OUR country. We stood hand and hand and honored our flag and sung our anthem loudly. We cried together and we rose up together.
I’ll end with .. our society today … it scares me. I’d say “never forget” but I feel we have.

“When an eagle appears, you are on notice to be courageous and stretch your limits. Do not accept the status quo, but rather reach higher and become more than you believe you are capable of. Look at things from a new, higher perspective. Be patient with the present; know that the future holds possibilities that you may not yet be able to see. You are about to take flight.”  http://goo.gl/GNcD85
