A “5 Star” Thank You!

five-stars

I would like to sincerely thank my clients and peers for giving me the honor of being nominated and awarded Philadelphia Magazine’s Five Star Real Estate Agent Award 8 years in a row (2011-2018)! This is an award achieved by less than 7% of agents in their market and will be featured in a special section of an upcoming issue of Philadelphia Magazine! It makes me incredibly happy that my clients have benefited from my service and think so highly of me and my work.

This award is given by surveying an agent’s clients and peers in nine categories: customer service, integrity, market knowledge, communication, negotiation, closing preparation, finds the right home, marketing of home, and overall satisfaction. Additionally, respondents are asked whether they would recommend the agent to a friend. Each real estate agent is reviewed for regulatory and/or disciplinary action as reported by state regulatory agencies and given a Regulatory Adjustment Score. In order to be named a FIVE STAR Real Estate Agent, an individual must hold a current real estate license and be in good standing.

I look forward to maintaining your highest standards of excellence!

Fat Man or Bean Pole? Seriously?

Based on these photos … Who Would You Elect for President?

Governor Christie vs Sophia Vergara

And the next President of the United States is ...

It is a known fact that politics and religion are taboo water cooler topics. Well, too bad. Digest this with your morning coffee. Who watched Fox News last night?

Ugh. Last night I was so disgusted watching Fox News go up to the average Joe/Jane on the street with a collage of three photos. One features (not my words) a “fat, less attractive” Governor Christie and the other two of his would be “thinner, more attractive” presidential opponents should New Jersey’s Governor Christie decide to enter into the political race for Mr. President.

Read the article.

They’ve even created a poll for you to go online and vote.

Seriously? Is that what we have become as a society? Let’s put in the pretty guy/girl with the 6 pack abs … who cares about their track record! Oh! Maybe that’s why we are where we are today?  Maybe we elected Barry because he was pretty and skinny (although he does smoke so maybe that’s how he stays so trim)?

Maybe Mr. Christie should be the next Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig spokesperson so that he can run for the Presidential Seat? You know, so his fat ass fits in the chair? Seriously?? Maybe that would boost his popularity because he will then be more appealing and easier on the eyes? I can’t say it enough .. Ugh.

Is the American Public that Vain? That Self Centered? That STUPID?

9/30/11 Update: the answer is NO! Based on the Fox News poll as of this morning of the 32,477 total votes, 28.472 people (87.67%) chose the response, “Who cares?! I just want a GOOD president who can fix this economy.”

Kudos! It appears it is Fox News who is stupid and lame (those ARE my words).

I am appalled that a major news network took the time to walk around the streets with 3 photos asking people who they found more attractive and why. Ugh. Aren’t there much more important things to cover in today’s world? War? Economy? Housing Crisis? Debt Ceiling? Job Loss? No … they took their time to report on Mr. Christie’s Big and Tall Man’s body. Sad. Sad. Sad.

I miss the good old days when we elected our officials based on their history and work ethic, not by who Hollywood and their fake teeth/boobs/noses/you get the point … stands behind, nor by who has the most money or by how they fit into a pair of jeans.

Truly Unbelievable.

Legg Calve Perthes Disease: Benefit for Jim Burke

Jim BurkeOn May 14, 2011 the family and friends of Jim Burke, from West Mayfair, will be hosting a fundraiser in hopes to raise money to help ease some of the financial burdens and costs during Jim’s battle of a rare degenerative bone disease called Legg Calve Perthes Disease. He is a 16 year old sophomore who attends Father Judge High School.

Jim was diagnosed with this rare disease when he was five, and since then he was underwent some extensive operations, but finally in 2005 he was given the clear and reassured he could be as active as he wanted and that he would not encounter any problems till much later in life. With that being said he joined the track team for Resurrection of Our Lord in 8th grade. He placed 1st in the city for the Philadelphia and 8th in the state for the Penn Relays along with other high placements in other relays. Jim is a Varsity wrestler for Judge; he works at it year round. He loved attending wrestling camps to improve himself, because he wanted to be the best. Jim received “Best Novice Wrestler” his freshman year and despite everything he has been through Jim has grown into an amazing young man who works hard at everything and gives his all to anything he puts his mind to. He is an Honor Student and has ranked 88 in a class of 278.

Presently the doctor told him that he can no longer wrestle or do his daily routine. Jim needs to undergo a major operation to restructure and rebuild his hip. He is no longer allowed to bear weight and must use crutches or a wheelchair to get around, and attends physical therapy three times a week. After his surgery it will take Jim three months before he can walk again and nine months before he will be rehabilitated. His mother Stephanie recently lost her job due to the economy and this is going to make the emotional struggle over the next year also a financial struggle. Many handicap modifications need to be made to the home.

Fundraiser: Dash for Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness

Gift of Life Dash for Organ Donor AwarenessWould you like to help raise awareness & money for the Gift of Life Donor Program?

TEAM TARA is participating in honor of Tara O’Brien who was an organ donor after being killed by a drunk driver in 1996.

TARA’S STORY:  (In brief) Tara was born on November 24, 1971 to Joe and Fran O’Brien. She grew up in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia with her parents and a younger brother, Joe. She attended Saint Bartholomew Grade School and Little Flower High School. She attended some college classes at Community College of Philadelphia and was last employed at the Naval Depot on Oxford Avenue. Tara had spunk and spark. She loved being a mom to her two girls Colleen and Theresa.

Tara enjoyed watching the Flyers play. She went out during the playoffs to catch a game at Chickie and Petes on Robbins Avenue and had dinner with her boyfriend. They left when the game was going into overtime to catch the rest at home which was less than 5 minutes away.

That was April 18, 1996. In an unfortunate turn of events, she was the only one in her car when she was struck at the intersection of Harbison and Charles Streets by a van driven by a drunk driver. After a week long stay in Intensive care, her severe injuries took her life on April 26, 1996.

She is survived by her two daughters who were 2 and 4 years old at the time, her parents, her grandmother, her brother, her niece and nephew (both born since she passed away), and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family and friends of Tara are participating in the Dash and raising money for the Gift of Life through individual sponsors and their own participation.

TEAM TARA is a way to keep Tara’s memory alive for all of us. Tara’s spunk and spark lives and reigns in the veins of her two awesome daughters! Each year we can utilize this great event to stop and reminisce about her specifically. Last years turn out was tremendous. Please join our team or support us if you can’t be there.

We hope to celebrate her memory further at a post-race/walk event where additional monies will be raised for this great cause, a cause that gives families like ours a chance to celebrate Tara’s heroic efforts even at the time of her death to help save others.

We ask if you could please support us and our goal by making a small donation to support this wonderful program. Please Visit TEAM TARA’S PAGE if you can help in any way or to learn more about Donor Awareness and the Gift of Life.

POST RACE EVENT:
1PM Sunday 4/17/11 at Chickie and Pete’s on the Roosevelt Boulevard
You pay for a bracelet.  Portions go directly to Gift of Life donor program and buffet and drinks.
